Two cities, one trip, and a proper look at why Delhi and Jaipur anchor India’s Golden Triangle. This 1 night, 2 day tour is built for travelers who don’t have a week to spare but still want to see the Mughal capital and the Pink City properly – not from a bus window, but on foot, with a guide who actually knows the history behind what you’re looking at.
Delhi gives you the layered story of the Mughal and British Raj eras – tombs, mosques, government buildings, and memorials that stack centuries on top of each other within a few kilometers of one another. Jaipur, on the other hand, is pure Rajput grandeur: forts on hilltops, palaces built for wind and water, and an observatory that still tells accurate time using instruments from the 1700s. Cover both in two days, and you walk away with a genuine sense of how North India’s imperial history actually unfolded – not just a photo album.

Full Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Delhi - Where Empires Left Their Mark
Your guide meets you at your hotel or the airport — whichever works for your schedule — and from there, it’s a full day moving between Old Delhi’s crowded lanes and New Delhi’s wide colonial avenues, all in an air-conditioned car so the Delhi heat (or winter chill, depending on when you’re traveling) doesn’t slow you down.
Over the course of the day, you’ll cover:
- Humayun’s Tomb — the Mughal garden-tomb that essentially set the template for the Taj Mahal decades later
- Qutub Minar — the tallest brick minaret in the world, and a good starting point for understanding Delhi’s pre-Mughal Islamic architecture
- Jama Masjid — one of India’s largest mosques, still active, built by Shah Jahan
- Raj Ghat — the simple black marble memorial marking Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation site
- Lotus Temple — the Bahá’í House of Worship, known for its distinctive flower-shaped architecture
- President House (Rashtrapati Bhavan) — viewable from outside; interior access is limited to official delegates with special clearance
- India Gate — the war memorial that anchors the eastern end of Rajpath
- Parliament Street — passing through Delhi’s administrative core
- Red Fort — exterior view of the Mughal fortress that once housed the imperial court
By evening, you’re driven back to your hotel to rest up before the next leg of the trip.
Day 2 Jaipur - Forts, Palaces, and a Working Observatory
Early start today – your driver picks you up between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM, and you’re on the road toward Jaipur. The drive takes a few hours, and you’ll typically arrive around 10:30 AM, where your Jaipur-based guide takes over.
The day covers:
- Amber Fort, including an elephant ride up the hillside approach — one of the more memorable ways to enter any fort in India
- City Palace, still partly home to Jaipur’s former royal family, with courtyards and museum wings open to visitors
- Jal Mahal, the “Water Palace” that appears to float in the middle of Man Sagar Lake
- Hawa Mahal, the honeycombed pink sandstone façade built so royal women could watch street life unseen
- Jantar Mantar, Jaipur’s 18th-century astronomical observatory, with instruments still accurate enough to track solar time
Once the Jaipur sightseeing wraps up, your driver takes you back to Delhi that same night. From there, you can head to your hotel or straight to the airport for your onward journey – whichever fits your plans.
